Puʻuʻalalā Village- Phase III Blessing and Dedication Ceremony (January 8, 2022)
The third and final phase of Puʻuʻalalā Village, a homeownership project in Pepeʻekeo on Hawaiʻi Island was completed in January 2022. Ten families worked under the guidance of construction supervisor, Tyron Nicolas and the Hawaiʻi Island Community Development Corporation (HICDC) to construct their homes together using the self-help housing model. After a dedication ceremony, each of the families could begin moving into their recently constructed homes. Each of the thirty homes built under this project is an Energy Star® Certified New Home.
This marks the completion of Puʻuʻalalā Village, a project that started in November 2016. This project would not be possible without the support and partnership of the Hawaiʻi Island Community Development Corporation and USDA Rural Development program.
