Puʻuʻalalā Village - Phase I Dedication Ceremony (June 26, 2020)
A dedication ceremony was held on June 26, 2020, for 10 families in Phase I of the three-phase homeownership project, Puʻuʻalalā Village in Pepeʻekeo on Hawaiʻi Island. The ceremony marked the completion of 10 months of these families working together every weekend to build their homes. Kahu Charlie Kama provided the blessing, followed by awards and certificates of completion for each family; and closing remarks from Construction Supervisor, Keola Kiyuna who provided guidance to the families and supervision of the building process from start to finish. Following the dedication ceremony, friends and family of the the new homeowners participated in a drive by parade to share their well wishes and congratulations. The families then began the process of moving into their new homes. E hoʻomaikaʻi ʻana to all of the families for their hard work and perseverance in completing the construction process!
Ten families in Phase II have begun construction on their homes, with Phase III slated to begin later this year. Mahalo to the Hawaiʻi Island Community Development Corporation for their leadership and partnership on this project!
