Puʻuʻalalā Village- Phase II Blessing and Dedication Ceremony (November 6, 2020)
Phase II of the three-phase homeownership project, Puʻuʻalalā Village in Pepeʻekeo on Hawaiʻi Island was completed on November 6, 2020. With the support of the Hawaiʻi Island Community Development Corporation (HICDC) and construction supervisor, Tyron Nicolas, ten families worked together through the self-help housing model to build their new homes.
Kahu Charlie Kama of Hale Pule Ke Ola Hou provided the blessing, followed by an awards ceremony and remarks from HICDC. The families then began the process of moving into their new homes. E hoʻomaikaʻi ʻana to all of the families for their hard work and perseverance in completing the construction process!
Ten families in Phase III began construction on their homes in February of this year with an estimated completion of late Summer 2021. This will be the final phase of this project. Mahalo to the Hawaiʻi Island Community Development Corporation for their leadership and partnership on this project!
