He Lono Moku - The State of the Environment Report 2019-2020
Hauʻoli Mau Loa Foundation has been an affiliate member of the Hawaiʻi Environmental Funders Group (EFG) since the inception of the group in 2009. Recently, the EFG announced the release of He Lono Moku – “The State of the Environment” report for 2019-2020. The third report of its kind, this current version has been two years in the making. The report aims to provide a snapshot of priority issues critical to the protection of Hawai‘i's environment and the self-sufficiency of its people—from highlighting approaches that are making a difference, to identifying opportunities that will sustain our unique island way of life for generations to come.
About the 2019 – 2020 report
Topics for He Lono Moku are chosen to align with the targets of the Aloha+ Challenge and U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The current report focuses on the climate crisis, solid waste reduction, and community health and well-being. Local and global bright spots are included for each, with explicit calls to action that intend to get our state closer to reaching our sustainability goals.
