Hauʻoli Mau Loa Foundation's 2020 Summer Intern Sanoe K. Burgess
In 2011, Hauʻoli Mau Loa Foundation started a paid summer internship program and hired its first intern. The idea behind offering the internship was that it would provide a college-age young person the opportunity to gain experience and develop knowledge, skills and awareness of organized philanthropy and the nonprofit sector in Hawaiʻi. The Foundation staff work hard to craft projects, experiences and learning opportunities for the intern that are intended to be educational and meaningful. In turn, we benefit by learning from the intern and the program helps to inform our own support of environmental internships through our Environmental Leadership Pathways program. Due to COVID-19, we're working virtually, and the summer internship is no different.
This summer, we are excited to welcome our ninth intern, Sanoe K. Burgess. Sanoe earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Communicology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Additionally, she has work experience as a former Sustainability Fellow at Kamehameha Schools and served as a Team Leader with Kupu (one of our Partners). Please join us in welcoming her!
